Equifax information; do you know how important Equifax information really is?

Your Equifax information is what is requested whenever you are looking to get a loan for a car, a home or just purchase some furniture. If you are making application to rent a house or apartment there is also a request for your Equifax information. If you are looking for employment that requires that you be bonded they also need your credit status.

What you must be aware of is how important the accuracy of this Equifax information is. Each and every time you make an application for the above items the information is sent to Equifax. Be sure to use the same, correct information each time you complete any documents pertaining to your personal information. If you use your home address then always use it, otherwise if you list your work address it will look as though you have moved, giving an unstable residency track record. Be sure to list your employment status the same with the identical company name, otherwise it looks as if you have an unstable employment track record.

You should request your own Equifax information at least every six months; there is no penalty for doing so. There is a penalty for anyone else requesting your Equifax information though. Each time there is a request for your credit rating it goes against your Beacon score. Whenever possible, you should personally give a copy of your up-to-date Equifax information instead of allowing the company seeking the information to request it. This would not affect your Beacon score and show that you are more informed and conscientious about your financial status.
